
Acolyte Training and Dedication
5th grade students are invited to serve as acolytes. Acolytes bring in and carry out the light of Christ each week. They also assist with infant baptism. Training is offered at the beginning of each school year. Acolyte Dedication is held each year in September.
Kindergarten Sneak Peak
On the Friday night before promotion Sunday, Kindergarten students and their parents are invited to a Rotation Sunday School Open House called the Kindergarten Sneak Peek. The evening includes a pizza supper and a visit and coordinating activity in each of the five Rotation Sunday School rooms. The event is concluded with a scavenger hunt that helps children find their way to various places in the church from their new Sunday School classrooms.
Bible Boot Camp
Bible Boot Camp is help the Friday night prior to the 3rd grade Bible presentation, which is held in September each year. After a snack supper and fellowship time, students are given their new Bibles. Important scripture verses are looked up and book marked with special ribbons. Other activities and games are included to help the 3rd graders learn to use their Bibles. The Bible Boot Camp concludes with a short practice session in the Sanctuary to prepare them for the Bible Presentation Ceremony.
Kid's Crop Walk
McFarlin's children participate in the Kid's Crop Walk, which is held on World Communion Sunday in October of each year. The Crop Walk gives children an opportunity to learn about world hunger while raising money to help those people who may not have enough clean water or good food to say healthy.
Trunk or Treat for UNICEF
Trunk or Treat is held in the church parking lot on a Sunday afternoon in late Fall. Sunday School classes and individuals decorate the trunks of cars, tailgates of pick-up trucks and the inside of minivans with carnival games and activities. Children are asked to return their UNICEF boxes when they arrive. Everyone is invited to dress up in their favorite costume for a fun afternoon of Fall fellowship.
Preschool Easter Egg Hunt
Children in Kindergarten and younger are invited to gather on the North lawn of the church for the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The Easter Egg hunt is held on the Saturday before Easter. Children are welcome to hunt eggs and have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny.
Promotion Sunday
Sunday School Students who are moving on to the youth group are recognized and prayed for before they take the next big step in their faith journey.
Chalking the Church
On Epiphany Sunday, Rotation Sunday School students gather outside the main doors of the church to mark the date and inscribe the letters C+B+M with chalk, which stands for the Latin, May Christ bless this place, Together they join in prayer to ask God's blessing on their church during the coming year.
