Rotation Sunday School for 1st-5th Grade
Elementary Children's Director: TBA
This is Sunday school for a new generation! It's Bible-based, experiential, meaningful, fun, and relational.
At McFarlin, what we have always loved about Sunday school is the teaching of biblical content, the interaction among children and adults within the church, and helping children grow in their faith relationship with God. In the Rotation Model Sunday School we have been able to continue to do these things even better. In Rotation Sunday School, children are actively involved with every Bible story. Rotation Sunday enables children to use their whole bodies to learn through drama, movement, taste, touch, music, etc. Because children retain more of what they learn when they experience it firsthand, it is a model that is very successful in helping children learn the basic lessons of our faith. In the rotation setting, the same Bible story or theme is taught for several weeks. Each week, learners rotate to a different learning environment (or room). The classroom itself becomes a part of the learning tools used in this model. The story remains the same, but children encounter it in different ways in each room. The more different ways children explore a story or concept, the more it is reinforced in their memories.
